A Note from the Chairman

  SafeStanding.com

Well another season is over and what a nail biter it turned out to be. In the league Chelsea were early pace setters but burnt out mid-season only to make a concerted effort near the end to claw their way back again.

In the meantime the Gooners had appeared to be our main challenge but as usual they lost all confidence and fizzled out.

Our home game against Chelsea became critical to the whole season but we played some of our best football that day and came out winners. Yet despite be close at one stage we eventually managed to win the league by 9 points, quite an achievement in any season!

The number “19” will now go down in United’s folklore and probably, for different reasons, the scousers as well.

The final game of the season against Blackpool was a bit of an anti-climax and to see them being relegated was quite sad.

We reached the final of the Champions league quite easily I felt, but the final was a different story, we were outplayed and will need to buy several new players if we want to challenge Barcelona in the future.

Getting rid of Carrick, Anderson and Park in mid field is a must (my personal opinion of course).

On a sad note Paul Clarke (AKA George) is finishing as club secretary because of work pressures and I would like to thank him for all the hard work he has put in over the last few seasons.

However the club will carry on as usual with the presence of Kevin Skinner and Dean Evans at the helm.

In conclusion I would like to thank all the committee members who have helped out this season and to all of you for attending matches and supporting our club and in turn supporting the great MANCHESTER UNITED”!!

A note from Kevin

Well firstly I would also like to thank George for all he has done over the last few years.

Unlike Dean and myself he was kind of thrown in at the deep end and had to learn how to run things himself, whereas we will have the advantage of having George at the end of the phone to answer any queries (Bless him).

We have now decided to try to split the work load into two sections to make it easier.

So this year I will be dealing with Old Trafford and ordering tickets and dealing with Taw & Torridge etc. but if you ring the club phone you we most likely be speaking to Dean, who is now in charge of taking match booking’s and doing the seating plans etc.

The phone will, of course, be on the coach on match days with whichever committee member is attending the game, as it was last year.

One concern I have at the moment is this new trial Utd have come up with, to start crediting one united cards with access to the stadium instead of using paper tickets, this is going to make it difficult to re- sell tickets if people pull out of games at last minute so we would obviously prefer that you don’t in the future.

My two most memorable games from last season were of course the Chelsea game, where we won the league in my opinion and of course the city game where I was privileged to witness the best goal I have ever seen. You all know which goal I’m talking about!!

We will do our best to run the club as efficiently as we can for the coming seasons.

I look forward to seeing you all again this year

Kind regards

KEVIN

A Note From Dean

Hello for those of you who don’t know who I am I’m the grumpy looking sod who’s either taking up two seats doing book work on the coach or the one driving the minibus slightly too fast.

I have been going to watch United since the age of 16 and been a member of the supporters club from way back when, when Dave started it off from Combe Martin in the early 90’s.

As Kev and Neil have already said “A BIG THANK YOU” to George for what he has done over the years not only a Branch Secretary but also an ever present committee member and face on the bus and now the stress of organising everything has been moved over hopefully George can come to a few games and just relax and enjoy the match.

As I will now be taking over the bookings, club phone, tickets and club queries etc. for match days I would please firstly ask for your patience whilst we get to grips with the running of the club and secondly as I do run my own business there will be times when the club phone is either turned off or not with me so please leave a voicemail if I don’t answer and I will get back to you, if you don’t leave a message I will assume it’s not important.

You can be assured that we will do our best to run the club at the same high standards as years gone by and we will continue to provide you with the chance to watch the BEST TEAM in the World, play as many times as is possible in the upcoming season and beyond.

Regards

Membership(click here the for membership page)

Last year the Supporters Club membership remained pretty much the same as the last few seasons, but however we were slightly down on One United memberships and the club had to buy 12 One United memberships to enable us to get the 100 members we need to be guaranteed our 15 match day ticket allocation from Old Trafford.

Without the 100 One United members and the 15 match day ticket allocation we get from those members we would only be able to run a mini bus on the few season tickets that some of our members have.

Match Bookings for the 2011/2012 season

Branch and One United Members will be able to book for any Premier League home game from Sunday 31st July 2011 after 5pm by ringing Dean on the club phone which is 07916700565.  Bookings will be taken on a first come first served basis and I will only be taking phone calls. No faxes ,text messages or e-mails will be accepted. Obviously games can be booked throughout the season.

Details of ordering procedure are in your membership packs. Can I remind you that if you book a game I will try all ways I can to get a ticket so you can attend a game, I don’t receive tickets from Old Trafford until up to two weeks before a game until I get them and feedback from season ticket holders I am unable to sort seating arrangements.

 Coach Prices

We have decided to continue using Taw and Torridge for the upcoming season, sadly due to an increase in the cost of the coach because of increased diesel prices, the committee has decided that we need to make a small increase in coach fares this year, meaning Adults will now pay £35 and Juniors £25.

The Nick Cooper MUSC North Devon Branch player of the Season 2010/11

As you will all be aware, on the coach after every home game, each person is asked who they believe the Man of the Match was for United during that game.

This year’s winner is  Dimitar Berbatov

Website www.muscnorthdevon.com

We have a great website that is maintained and updated on a regular basis by Tim James, which has all the  important information regarding travel arrangements and ticket availability that you’ll need.

Also there is regular Branch news and United news, a photo page where you can submit photos of yourselves at a match and also the contacts page where you can send e-mails to the committee members if you have any ideas or maybe have a contribution to make that could help the club in the future.

Feedback

The club is run on a totally voluntary basis and a lot of time and effort is put in to ensure that as a member you have every chance of being able to visit Old Trafford and attend a game if that is your wish. It would be nice to have some feedback from members as to their thoughts on what we do and how we do it and if there is anything that you feel would enhance your game day experience.

Please remember we are a small club which relies on your continued support and while we have that we will try and keep the club up and running.
