The "Nick Cooper" North Devon Branch Player of the Season Page
Throughout the course of the Domestic and European Campaign, North Devon United supporters go up to Old Trafford to watch Manchester United play as many home games as possible. At these games, any person that travelled with the Branch is asked to vote who they thought was the Man of the Match for the particular game. These votes are counted up on the coach journey back to Devon, and the result for that match is then announced.
At the end of the season, all of the votes are tallied up, and the result is finalised. During the AGM meeting held before the start of the next campaign, the Player of the Season (as voted for by the North Devon supporters) is announced and that player is then given an award by the Supporters Club during the following season. It is possible, but not certain, that members of the Branch will be given the chance to meet their Player of the Season when the award is presented to him.
The 20010/2011 season votes were as follows: In third place was Ju-Sung Park who was man of the match 4 times,and with 5 man of the match performances and the runner up is Javier Hernandez and the winner who was man of the match 8 times is Dimatar Berbatov. Dimatar Berbatov - Player of Season 2010/11
Berbatov started out at Bulgarian side CSKA Sofia. He joined The Armymen aged 17 following in the footsteps of his father, Ivan, who also played for the club. He was a regular goalscorer and his talent quickly attracted attention from Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen, who made their move in January 2001 after Berba's impressive start to the season for CSKA. Berbatov made a slow start in Germany, but he regularly shone in the Champions League, helping Leverkusen knock United out of the Champions League semi-finals in April 2002.
Berbatov was eventually lured to the Premier League when Tottenham signed him in July 2006 for a reported £10.9million fee. He scored 23 goals in his opening season,After months of speculation linking him with a move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2008, Sir Alex Ferguson finally got his man on transfer deadline day with just minutes to go. Berbatov signed a four-year contract on 1 September 2008 for an undisclosed fee.
Berbatov opened his account for the Reds the same month with two goals away at Aalborg in the Champions League, but was unfortunate to miss out on the Club World Cup in December through injury . Last season he was United top scorer with 21 goals (20 in the premierleague which won him a share of the Golden Boot with a certain money grabbing argentinian) including high points of a hatrick against Liverpool and a 5 goal haul against Blackburn Rovers and late winners against Blackpool and Bolton.
