TOP STORY: Potters pay the penalty

United with 11 first teamers missing  overcame Stoke 2-0 at Old Trafford. It was never a vintage performance but with so many players missing it was the result that was more important than the performance. Two penalties decided the game Javier Hernandez (celebrating left) converted the first on 38 min after  Jermaine Pennant brought down Ju-Sung Park. Dimatar Berbatov converted the 2nd on 53 min after Walters up ended Valencia. An injury ravaged United crashed out of the FA Cup when Liverpool scored with 5 min remaining in this 4th round encounter at Anfield. The reds were without several key players  but matched the merseysiders for most of the game. Liverpool lead after 21 min through a Agger header allthough David De Gea should of done better with Gerrards corner. United equalised on 39 min through Ju-sung Park (pictured left). United kept on the shirt tails of City at the top of the table with this hard earned 2-1 win against Arsenal at the Emirates. United had the better of the 1st half  but took till a min before half time when Valencia (pictured left) met a Ryan Giggs cross to head the reds in front. The gunners improved in the 2nd half and Robert Van Persie got a deserved equaliser 71 min but United were not to be denied and when Valencia  set up Danny Welbeck to score the winner with 9 min remaining.The result was a little hard on Arsenal who on the 2nd half performance deseved something from the game.United trail City by 3 points at the top of the table

Paul Scholes scored on his Old Trafford comeback (pictured left) as United went level with City at the top of the table with this comfortable win over Bolton at Old Trafford. United created loads of chances but were wastefull in front of goal .Wayne Rooney had a penalty  brilliantly saved by Bogdan after Danny Welbeck was brought down, before Scholes broke the deadlock just before half time. United are through to the 4th round of the FA Cup after withstanding a City  2nd half comeback to beat the blues 3-2 at the Eitihad Staduim. United with Paul Scholes on the bench after coming out of retirement  weathered a early city storm to open the scoring on 10 min through a Wayne Rooney header (pictured left).Vincent Kompany was then sent off for City for a 2 footed tackle on Nani. Danny Welbeck doubled United advantage on the half hour. Rooney then followed his saved penatly to put United  3-0 up at half time.
