TOP STORY: United win at Fratton Park

    Portsmouth 0 United 1

United got their defence of the Premiership title back on track with this hard fought Monday night win over Pompey at Fratton Park. United had Anderson and Tevez returning to the first team after absence but it was Darren Fletcher who scored the winner on 32 minutes (celebrating with the team left.) His shot was deflected home via Campbell. United had other chances to increase their lead - Wayne Rooney just missing with the best chance. Portsmouth also had their moments, but United comfortably held on for their first win of the season.

The Toon take a point at Old Trafford

   United 1 Newcastle 1

United dropped points in their opening Premiership fixture at Old Trafford. Newcastle were good value for a point as United struggled to break down a resolute Magpies defence. Shay Given in the Toon goal made several crucial saves - twice from the impressive Fraizer Campbell (in for the absent Tevez). Newcastle took the lead when Martins headed home from a corner. Two minutes later Darren Fletcher met a Ryan Giggs cross to equalise (pictured left). United now have 10 first teamers out either injured, suspended or away. Fergie must strengthen the depleated first team squad

United retain the Community Shield

United 0 Portsmouth 0 (United win 3-1 on pens)

United retained the Community Shield after another penalty shootout win at Wembley. United dominated the 90 minutes and due to some outstanding saves from David James (again!!) and some dogged defending from the Portsmouth defence, Pompey prevented United winning in the 90 minutes. Man of the Match Carlos Tevez was twarted by James several times. Darren Fletcher missed the best chance as well as hitting the bar. Tevez, Giggs and Carrick scored their penalties, with Defoe being the only Pompey player to hit the target, as United ran out 3-1 penalty shootout winners.

United are "THE CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE" again

Chelsea 1 United 1 (United win 6-5 on pens)

United are the Champions of Europe again after this nailbitting, tension filled night in the Luzinski Staduim, Moscow. United had the best of the first half. Ronaldo opened the scoring on 26 mins with a header before Lampard equalised for The Blues just on halftime. Chelsea had the best of the second half. In extra time United had their chances then Drogba was sent off for slapping Vidic. Then came the dreaded penalty shoot out. Ronaldo missed for United, John Terry had the chance to win it for Chelsea but missed. Then Anderson and Giggs scored for United and Kalou replied for Chelsea. Anelka had his kick saved by Van der Sar(left) and United were The Champions of Europe for a third time.

We Won The Football League again this time at the JJB...

    Wigan 0 United 2

United are the Champions of England again after they held their nerve to beat Wigan at the JJB Staduim. United have been Champions of England 17 times and have lifted the Premiership trophy 10 times. United took the lead when Boyce brought down Rooney in the penalty area on 33 mins. Ronaldo held his nerve to convert the penalty to score his 41st goal of the season(pictured left). Wigan gave United a real game and went close to equalising several times, with Heskey missing the best chance. It was fitting then that Ryan Giggs scored the clincher 10 mins from the end, collecting a pass from Wayne Rooney on the day he equalled Sir Bobby Charlton's appearance record.
